Doug Free, who has started every game since 2010 for the Dallas Cowboys’ renowned offense line, has told the team that he plans to retire, ESPN’s Todd Archer reports.
Free, 33, spent the last five seasons as the team’s starting right tackle after Dallas selected him in the fourth round of the 2007 draft as a left tackle. He was part of an offensive line that has been ranked either No. 1 or No. 2 in the NFL in each of the past two seasons by Pro Football Focus, but this year began to show signs of age: He allowed eight sacks and had trouble with run-blocking.
